2023 Youth Bank Board
April 3, 2024

Community National Bank & Trust of Texas hosts Youth Bank Board for Leon & Freestone County high school seniors.
Nine Leon and Freestone County high school seniors are getting first-hand experience in the banking industry by serving on the Youth Bank Board at Community National Bank & Trust of Texas. Hand-picked by their teaching staff, these nine students were nominated based on high academic standing, leadership potential, school recommendations and a willingness to excel.
The Youth Bank Board meets monthly at the bank’s Fairfield location to gain valuable insight into the inner workings of the bank. Each board meeting features a discussion with key leaders from CNB&T, including CEO Rusty Hitt and President Tim Stites. The 2023 – 2024 program has covered a variety of topics with speakers from each department, including operations, marketing, commercial and agricultural lending, mortgage lending, accounting, human resources, information technology, trust, and bank security.
Along with educational sessions on banking careers, the Youth Bank Board participated in monthly loan presentations with CNB&T leaders. The group is provided with hypothetical loan presentations made up of mock customer information for the board to review in detail and consider for approval. These real-world exercises have given the students an inside view of loan processes and a better understanding of board functionality
With featured speakers and hands-on case studies, the Youth Bank Board serves as a tool to strengthen college applications, make connections for future scholarship opportunities, and give insight for possible career paths. “We’ve got a great group of board members this year,” Vice President Tommy Neyland said. “We’re excited to see where this program takes our Leon and Freestone County seniors.”
