Youth Bank Board
November 1, 2019

Community National Bank & Trust of Texas hosts Youth Bank Board for Leon County high school seniors.
Seven Leon County high school seniors are getting first-hand experience in the banking industry by serving on the Youth Bank Board at Community National Bank & Trust of Texas. Teachers and staff of Leon County nominated students based on high academic standing, leadership potential, school recommendations and a willingness to excel.
The Youth Bank Board meets monthly at the bank’s Centerville location to gain valuable insight on the inner workings of the bank. Each board meeting features a discussion with key leaders from CNB&T, including CEO Rusty Hitt, President Tim Stites, and Chief Lending Officer Greg Olsen. The 2019 – 2020 program will cover a variety of topics with speakers from each department, including operations, marketing, commercial and agricultural lending, mortgage lending, accounting, human resources, information technology, trust and bank security.
After electing officers in their November meeting, the Youth Bank Board will participate in monthly loan presentations. CNB&T leaders will provide hypothetical loan presentations with mock customer information for the board to review in detail and consider for approval. These real-world exercises will give board members an inside scoop on loan processes and a better understanding of board functionality.
With featured speakers and hands-on case studies, the Youth Bank Board serves as a tool to strengthen college applications, make connections for future scholarship opportunities, and give insight for possible career paths. “We’ve got a great group of board members this year,” Vice President Tommy Neyland said. “We’re excited to see where this program takes our Leon County seniors.”
